Swaps without the spreadsheets

Most swaps still run on forum threads, private messages and shared spreadsheets. BookSparker puts the whole swap in one place.

The usual way

  • Hunting for partners in Facebook groups and forum threads
  • Taking someone's word for their list size and open rate
  • Trading dates and book links over email and messages
  • Chasing partners to find out whether they actually sent

With BookSparker

  • Search lists by genre, list size, open rate and open dates
  • List sizes and rates synced from each author's email provider
  • Dates, book links and reminders on one swap card
  • Each send confirmed with the campaign that carried it

How newsletter swaps work on BookSparker

From connected list to confirmed swap in four steps.

  1. 1

Connect your list and open your calendar

Connect your email provider, then choose the days and swap types you can send. Your list appears in swap search as soon as its settings are saved.

  2. 2

    Find partners and send requests

Search by genre, list size, open rate and availability, then request a date from a partner's calendar. Send one request, or the same request to up to 40 lists at once.

  3. 3

    Agree the details

Your partner accepts, declines or sends a counter offer within 5 days. Accepted swaps move to Active Swaps with both dates and both book links, and BookSparker reminds whoever still owes a link.

  4. 4

    Send and confirm

On your share dates, you feature their book and they feature yours. Each of you then confirms within 7 days by picking the campaign that carried the swap, and the swap completes.

Three ways to swap

Every swap names what you ask for and what you give back. A Mention in return for a Feature is an ordinary request.

Solo

A newsletter dedicated to one book. It takes the whole day, so nothing else goes out to that list.

Feature

A featured book section inside a newsletter. One per list per day.

Mention

A brief book mention. A list can carry up to 10 in one day, alongside a Feature.

Everything a swap needs, built in

The tools that make swapping reliable, from the first search to the last confirmation.

Genre matching

Each list sets target categories, so partners can only request swaps for books that fit their readers. The Recommended order leads with lists in your genres.

Real list stats

List sizes and open and click rates sync from each author's email provider wherever it reports them, so you see real numbers before you ask.

Bulk requests

Pick a date range of up to 10 days, tick up to 40 lists and send the same request to all of them at once.

Your swap calendar

Set a weekly schedule of Solo, Feature and Mention slots, keep a rolling booking window open, and block the dates you cannot send.

Book link reminders

Not sure which link to use yet? Add it later, and BookSparker reminds you five, three and one day before it is due.

Counter offers and date changes

Answer a request with a different date, book or swap type, and move a share date whenever your partner approves.

Duplicate protection

Optional cooldowns stop the same book or the same author from being promoted to your list again within 3 to 90 days.

Multi-list offers

Run more than one list? Offer up to 20 of them in a single request and let your partner pick the one that fits their readers.

Confirmed results

Each side confirms within 7 days by picking the campaign from their email provider, so every completed swap has its campaigns on record.

Why authors swap on BookSparker

Swaps reach readers who already buy and read your genre.

"Honestly, the swap feature is what got me. Finding authors with audiences that actually overlap mine used to be a forum-crawl. Now it's a few clicks."

Newsletter swap FAQ

What authors ask before their first swap on BookSparker.

A newsletter swap is a cross-promotion between two authors: on an agreed date you feature their book in your newsletter, and they feature yours in theirs. You both reach readers who already read your genre, without paying for ads.
