A Smart Book Link is one short address, read.booksparker.com followed by a name you choose, that sends every reader who clicks it to the Amazon store for their own country. You share one link in your newsletter, on social media and on your website, and a reader in Germany lands on amazon.de while a reader in Canada lands on amazon.ca. Smart Book Links are unlimited on every plan, including the free one.
What a Smart Book Link does
When a reader clicks, BookSparker reads their country and redirects them to the matching Amazon store: twenty stores are covered, from amazon.com and amazon.co.uk to amazon.co.jp and amazon.com.au, and countries without a store of their own go to the one Amazon serves them from, so Austria and Switzerland go to amazon.de and Ireland to amazon.co.uk. A reader in a country with no match goes to the store your original link came from. Ebook links also skip the few stores that sell no Kindle books. One limit is shared by every tool of this kind: if a book is genuinely not sold in a reader's store, Amazon shows them a not-found page.
Create a link
Create link on the Smart Book Links page opens the form. Paste an Amazon product link, a ten-character ASIN, or a ten- or thirteen-digit ISBN. Shortened Amazon links such as amzn.to are unpacked for you. Find link checks the input; when it is recognised a green check appears in the field and the button becomes Create link. If the book is in your BookSparker library, its title and cover are attached to the link and the title becomes the default label.
An amber note appears when the link is to Amazon but carries no book ID, such as an author page or a search. That link still works, but every reader goes to that exact page rather than their local store, so prefer a product link for automatic routing. A bare ASIN or ISBN has no store attached and counts as coming from amazon.com.
Name and address
The Label is for your dashboard only, up to 60 characters; clear it and the row shows the address instead. The Link address is the part after read.booksparker.com. Leave it blank for a random seven-character code, or choose your own: 4 to 32 letters, numbers and single dashes, with no spaces, and not a reserved word such as admin or login. The address is fixed once the link exists; renaming changes only the label. Addresses only need to be unique among active links, so a paused link's address can be reused.
Affiliate tags
Under Affiliate tags you can add your own Amazon Associates tag so that sales through your link earn your commission. Each Amazon store needs its own tag: the first field is the tag for the link's source store, and Add a regional tag adds one for another store. A tag is only applied when the reader lands in a store you have a tag for, and BookSparker never inserts a tag of its own. Tags you use are saved to Manage tags, so they fill in automatically next time. You can keep several per store, such as different tracking IDs.
Manage your links
Each row shows the label, the address with a copy chip, an open glyph, the click total and the status. The pencil menu offers Rename link, Pause link and Delete link. A paused link shows a not-found page to readers until you activate it again. Delete link is permanent: the address stops working and its click statistics are lost, and the confirmation says so. Tags on an existing link cannot be edited from the dashboard, so create a new link if you need different ones.
Read your stats
Click the label or the click count to expand a row. A click is one redirect through your link, recorded with the reader's country and the store they were sent to and nothing else. By country and By store list the top six of each, and the bars only appear once there are at least two entries, so a single click does not read as a full bar.
The free tool without an account
Anyone can make a Smart Book Link at booksparker.com/smart-book-links without signing up, with the same recognition, address and tag options and a limit of ten links per hour. The link works indefinitely, but it is remembered only in the browser that made it. Sign up from that same browser and the links are claimed into your account, where they gain statistics and management; sign up elsewhere, or clear the browser first, and they keep working but can no longer be claimed.
Common questions
Why did a reader see a not-found page on Amazon?
The book is not sold in their local store. Routing goes by store, and Amazon cannot show a product that store does not carry. There is no setting for this; it affects every universal-link tool.
Can I change a link's address later?
No. The address is fixed when the link is created. Create a new link with the address you want and pause or delete the old one.
What counts as a click?
Every redirect served by the link, including your own test clicks. Nothing about the reader beyond country and store is stored.
Do I need a paid plan?
Not for the links themselves. Paid plans add custom domains, so links can live on an address like read.yourname.com.
